Audio Performance Reflection

Overall, I felt pretty good about the performance Timmy and I created together. It seemed to be a huge hit for everyone — the relaxation that the guided meditation brought proved to be stress-relieving for some. I thought our execution was pretty solid, except for a little hiccup we had while doing it live. Timmy seemed to be muted while I was speaking for the first minute or so, so none of the soundscape/effects came through to Zoom. I was attempting to message him during my pauses, and I’m sure that the keyboard slaps could be heard as well. Next time: mics unmuted…

Based on feedback, I think Timmy and I could’ve gone a little bit deeper in our experimentation and project. Whether that could’ve been adding more to the soundscape, trying to make transitions flawless, making the reading a bit more longer/shorter, or making the reading more meditative, I still think we did well with our constraints of being separated by distance. We struggled a bit divvying up responsibilities. I felt like I didn’t do much to help on Timmy’s end on the Max patch, and Timmy didn’t help me much on the script — which is fine! We split our responsibilities, but I felt like Timmy had the more stressful job of creating the environment for everyone. We struggled divvying that up because of being remote and not being able to use two audio inputs/outputs at once in Zoom from two different locations without it sounding like garbage. I think this could’ve been really cool to perform in-person, but overall, still feeling good about how it played out.
